Standing straight with your support leg slightly bent; raise your knee to your chest as you rock your hips slightly forward. Keep your toes back and keep the heel of your foot as close to your butt as possible.
Side Thrust Kick (Yoko Geri Kekomi)
Side Snap Kick (Yoko Geri Keage)
Stand straight, with your support leg slightly bent. Raise your knee toward an imaginary target to your side, as your rock your hip slightly up. Be sure to set the side edge of your foot as you raise the knee. Let the foot snap out as your knee continues to extend toward your target. Snap your kicking foot back to its starting position.
Back Kick (Ushiro Geri)
In one smooth movement, bring your knee to your chest, your heel to your hip, and your hip to your target. Glance over your shoulder. Continue the movement by thrusting your knee out to your target. Try to keep the foot pointed down. Kick with the heel of your foot. Strongly pull the knee back to your starting position.
Roundhouse Kick (Mawashi Geri)
Raise your knee to side of your body. As you do this, form one level plane with your knee, your hip, and your heel. Turn your hip and knee to the target, snapping your foot out and back. Return to the starting position.
